Stepping back into being a leader.
Autumn always feels like a time to take stock. This one has made me look at what it means to truly lead, not just the business but myself.
The last month has been full. Running the business, navigating perimenopause, managing family things, it’s been a lot. It’s reminded me how closely life and business are linked. Of course they are; I’m the same person at the centre of both, and when one part is off balance, the rest feels it too.
During a call with my coach last week, she said, “Yes, things have been full on, but now it’s time to step back into your leadership role.” And she was right.
Leadership, for me, isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about seeing clearly, making decisions, and keeping the focus on what really matters. I’d lost a bit of that focus, but it’s back now, along with a renewed sense of direction.
For the past three and a half years, The Pocket Strategist has been built very intentionally around one-to-one work. Strategy days, ongoing partnerships, deep, focused work with brilliant business owners. It’s been the right season for that. But now it’s time to grow into something bigger.
I’ve been realigning the business to make space for more ways to support small business owners, to help them not just run their businesses but lead them.
Because I’m seeing it more than ever, running a business can be lonely. You can go to networking events, but what most people need is something deeper, genuine connection, accountability, and space to think strategically about where they’re heading.
That’s why I’ve created The Strategy Space.
It’s a guided community for small business owners who want protected time each month to think, plan, and take focused action that drives real growth. It’s designed to help you lead your business, not just run it.
Growth doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when you make space for it. That’s exactly what The Strategy Space is about: creating that space every month so you can stay intentional, make progress, and feel less alone while you do it.
If you’d like to take a look or join, you can find all the details here.
So yes, things are shifting, and it feels good. This next season is about leading with intention, building community, and creating the kind of space small business owners need now more than ever.
