I’m determined not to burnout again - Part Two.

How am I keeping on top of things? Strong boundaries. Very strong boundaries. If you’re not sure why this is so important to me, you might need to recap on the story so far.

I’ve got non-negotiables within my business and I’ve got ways of working that I stick to pretty rigidly because I just know that I have to. I’ve learnt that I have to protect myself, so offering these full day strategy days allows me to have control over my calendar, have the income that I need and I’m continuing to grow. Just over a year later, I can happily say that I have landed in a place that I LOVE LOVE LOVE and it was the best thing I could ever do.

Since then, I’ve added to my services so that I have recurring income between strategy days, and last month I launched my first Mastermind group. I am growing the business really sustainably and I’m getting those on the outside to help to do so.

The biggest thing for me was just to be able to work to my strengths, and I’m a great believer in delegating your “weaknesses” to other people before they drain your energy. And that’s exactly what I’m doing in my business now.

So, what can you take away from this for your business?

Start with a purpose.

Create your vision for business and for life. Discover your strengths and passion and remember - running a business is a journey, but you’ve got to enjoy the ride.

Set your boundaries.

Prioritise yourself and work out what are your non-negotiables? Understand what you need to put in place to protect yourself and once you know them, stick to them! Perhaps the most powerful way to enforce those boundaries is to remember that “no is a one word sentence”.

Be super intentional.

Create a plan and deliver it with laser focus. Lean into your strengths, passion and joy. Say no to the things that don’t align with your values and do only a few

things at a time, but do them well.

Regularly review where you are.

Working on your business is just as important as working in it. Set goals alongside your plan, but not too many that you end up feeling overwhelmed. Actively create time in your calendar to check in with yourself, measuring your progress to make any necessary changes, as well as celebrating your successes.

Lean on others.

You might think that you can do it all on your own, but you can’t! Get support from people who know more than you and focus on your strengths so you can delegate the rest. Perhaps most importantly, build a community around you of the right people. People who can support and challenge you!

Don’t work all the hours.

Prioritise and focus on the things that have the biggest impact. Stick to your boundaries and manage your calendar well. On top of that, delegate and automate.

Don’t be afraid to make a change.

Change doesn’t mean failure, it’s a sign of growth. If something isn’t working or doesn’t feel right - change it. Listen to the feedback of others, check your numbers, follow trends and be agile.

And that’s really it!

You have the power to do whatever you want to do. If you’re struggling to regain control of your business, let’s have a conversation about how I might be able to help you.

Remember, running a business is a journey. It’s your business and it’s your life.
