My year of scrappy business growth - month 1.

As a Business Strategist and single Mum juggling running a business, I am known for being focused, structured and organised. And I am.

But after 18 months running the The Pocket Strategist I've decided it's time to be a bit more scrappy, try new things and be more open to exploring different opportunities.

I've been focused on building my brand and delivering for my clients by working predominantly 1:1, which I love, but it's time to scale my business by exploring new ways of working.

I love change, stretch and challenge and I need to inject this into my business to keep pushing me forward and enable me to learn and expand my knowledge and experience. And have more fun!

I am going to maintain my brand staples - I only work in person, within beautiful spaces where my clients can step away and feel great!

But play around with the different formats I can do this. In the last couple of months, I have added small Masterminds and bigger workshops and this month I've launched a Workshop with a guest expert Tamsyn Allington on how to create Better Boundaries as a business owner. If you struggle with your boundaries you do not want to miss this - it will be incredibly empowering.

Here is how my first month of being scrappy gone...

The good...

✅I've impulse-created a LinkedIn newsletter - this one!!

✅1 workshop for 12 people delivered - had A LOT of fun!

✅New Boundaries Workshop for Feb planned and launched

✅Spent the 3rd day of 4 with my first mastermind group - they are all moving forward within their businesses

✅1 new mastermind group started with an AWESOME group of women

✅3 new 1:1 Clients

✅3 1:1 strategy days delivered with existing clients

✅3 conversations had or booked about collaborations

✅Looking into having VAs working through the Pocket Strategist with my clients - had a great response

✅Was a guest on a podcast

✅Feeling in flow and excited about the year to come

The not-so-good...

➡️I was exhausted the day after delivering the workshop and had to cancel calls because I was too tired to do them - I'm booking half days after future workshops

➡️I have not stuck with my plan to be active every day - I need to actively plan it in and my girls have been roped in to help keep me accountable!

➡️I need to watch myself because I'm riding high and doing ALL the things and don't want to crash, I need to make sure I plan in white space to recoup my energy and retain my freedom of time

➡️Balancing being a single mum and running a business is tough and my daughter has said she doesn't like it when I am away, I'm going to manage my calendar more closely to try to minimise nights away

➡️I'm much more reliant on caffeine and sugar than I realised - I'm going to make a plan to reduce how much I consume!

➡️I plan to do things last minute which is normally fine. except for when I needed to print the workbooks for my new Mastermind. I didn't bank on my printer not working and then being SUPER slow to print - it took me 3 hours and ended up in a lot of swearing, wasted paper and a late night. I'm buying a new printer and will plan to do workbooks 48hrs before just in case!

I'm enjoying having a scrappy mindset - really it's more of a 'f*&k it, let's give it a go and see' mindset. It's rather liberating from my more controlled and focused first 18 months.

I needed the control of the last 18 months to build my foundations whilst making sure I am building a successful business model that fits with the life I want and now it's time to have more fun as I try out new things and see if they work.

My skill is helping business owners turn the business they currently have into the business they actually WANT. If you are struggling with doing this for yourself, send me a message and let's have a chat.
