The secret to more sales!

Let's talk about the thing that keeps many small business owners up at night: sales. You've poured your heart and soul into your product or service, but somehow, the customers aren't exactly lining up at your door.

The truth is, sales don't just happen. They require an active approach.

Here's a familiar scenario: You're constantly posting on social media, running ads, and maybe even doing some email marketing. But where are the sales? You might be thinking, "Isn't that enough? Shouldn't people just find me?"

Unfortunately, in today's competitive world, hoping for customers isn't a strategy.  There's a whole lot of noise out there, and simply having a great product or service isn't enough to cut through it.

Running a successful business boils down to one thing: selling your stuff.

Whether it's a handcrafted product or a top-notch service, you need to be out there, actively converting interest into sales to stay in business and pay your mortgage.

Sales conversations are the key.

This means picking up the phone, sending people direct messages, attending networking events, and yes, even knocking on doors (metaphorically or literally, depending on your business!). It's about building relationships, understanding your ideal customer's needs, and showing them how your offering solves their problems.

Social media can be a great tool, but it doesn’t replace your need to actually sell!

Don't be fooled by all the "get rich quick" schemes online.  People selling social media courses are often in the business of selling courses, not necessarily in the business of helping you grow your sales. Passively marketing your business on socials will not make you sales, you need to combine it with a sales strategy to gain and convert the leads you need.

So how do you get started?

Track your sales activities.

Set some goals and record your progress each week. How many calls did you make? How many conversations did you have? Are you following up on leads?

Focus on building relationships

People buy from people they trust. Take the time to get to know your potential customers and understand their needs.

Be patient.

Some sales take time, and that’s OK. Some people will buy immediately, some people will literally take years. But you’re in this for the long haul so build your long-term pipeline.

Become an expert in your field.

The more you know about your industry and the problems you solve, the more confident you'll be in the sales process.

Create a CRM to follow up

Create a system to track your leads and never forget who you need to follow up with and when. This will also help you track your pipeline of sales and how well you are converting your leads.

Don't be afraid to ask for the sale.

Sometimes, people just need a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Remember, sales are a skill that can be learned and improved with practice. Don't be discouraged if you don't close every deal.  Every conversation is a learning experience, and the more you put yourself out there, the better you'll become.

So, ditch the passive approach and start taking action! If you want more sales go and get them, be intentional and make them happen. No more sitting back and expecting them to roll in.
